The government is a parliamentary republic that oversees the governance of Malta. The Prime Minister leads the government, while the President serves as the country's head of state.

Members of the parliament, referred to as the House of Representatives, are chosen every five years by the general public. Malta's laws and policies are influenced by EU Regulations and Directives as a member of the EU
